Abstract
Burzovni indeksi predstavljaju važnu poslovnu praksu u suvremenom gospodarstvu. Teško je zamisliti suvremeno gospodarstvo bez razvijenog tržišta kapitala, a jednako teško je zamisliti razvijeno tržište kapitala bez adekvatnih te prilagođenih, istom tom tržištu, burzovnih platformi te pratećih indeksa financijskih instrumenata. Cilj ovog rada je približiti navedene burzovne indekse na način da se prikaže povijest, uloga i značaj, vrste indeksa te taksonomija i načini konstrukcije istih. Same karakteristike i utvrđivanje intrinzične vrijednosti dioničkog indeksa prikazane su na primjeru popularnog Američkog indeksa S&P 500, koji predstavlja 500 najvećih Američkih javnih tvrtki. Dodatno je napravljena usporedna analiza istog indeksa u odnosnu na ostale popularne globalne dioničke indekse sličnih karakteristika. Rezultati svega navedenog idu u prilog tezi da dionički indeksi sa razvijenih tržišta, zbog svoje efikasnosti, često impliciraju očekivanja blizu realnosti, odnosno fer vrijednost.
Abstract (english)
Market indexes represent an important business practice in the modern economy. It is difficult to imagine a modern economy without a developed capital market, and it is equally difficult to imagine a developed capital market without adequate and customized market platforms and accompanying indexes of financial instruments. The aim of this paper is to familiarize the reader with these market indexes by presenting the history, role and significance, types and taxonomies, and methods for constructing such indexes. Specific characteristics and the determination of the intrinsic value of an equity index are shown using the popular US S&P500 index as an example, which represents the 500 largest US public companies. A comparative analysis of this index was also made in relation to other popular global equity indexes with similar characteristics. The results of this analysis support the argument that stock indices from developed markets, due to their efficiency, often provide realistic expectations or fair value.
